UPDATE: An 18-year-old man who was badly beaten by the father of a child he was accused of molesting was sentenced to 25 years in prison on Thursday.
Raymond Frolander pleaded no contest to the charge of lewd or laswcivious molestation of a child to avoid a mandatory life sentence.
The boy’s father was not charged with assault.
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Police say a Daytona Beach father beat an 18-year-old man unconscious after he allegedly caught him sexually abusing his 11-year-old son.
The suspect appeared in court, his eyes almost swollen shut.
His face is covered in bruises but police say the man who did the beating isn’t facing any charges.
Officers say the father of the rape victim did exactly what many parents would do in his situation.
“Dad reacted like a dad. He’s acting like a father, protecting his son and he’s furious over what has occurred,” said Chief Mike Chitwood, with the Daytona Beach Police Department.
“I just walked in and found a grown man molesting [my son]… and I got him in a bloody puddle for you right now officer,” the father said on the 911 call.
Authorities say Raymond Frolander asked the 11-year-old boy first to sit on his lap, then took him to a bedroom, pulled his pants down and the child’s, sexually battering him.
That’s the scenario the victim’s father walked in on.
“You beat him up?” asked the 911 dispatcher.
“Oh yeah, send him an ambulance. He’s going to need one,” said the father.
According to the victim, Raymond Frolander had been abusing him for more than three years.
Authorities say he was a trusted family friend who would always play video games with the boy.
“The young man was in fear that if he didn’t comply, he’d get hurt,” said Chief Chitwood.
Frolander allegedly admitted to the ongoing sexual abuse, saying ‘I’m guilty.’
He also claimed he had been abused as a child.
“I knew what was going on and I did what I had a right to except I didn’t kill him. You are damn lucky boy that I love my God,” said the father on the 911 call.
Due to the nature of the crime, a judge ruled that Frolander will be held without bond.
