OKLAHOMA CITY — Fall is here, and Kyle’s signature Apple Butter will have your guests begging for the recipe. This recipe is outstanding as an addition to oatmeal, served as a sauce with pork, served with biscuits, muffins or toast, or simply devoured alone.  Kyle is sharing a sweet secret that he hopes you enjoy!

  • 3 quarts (12 cups) Unsweetened Applesauce
  • 2.5 cups White Sugar
  • 4 t ground Cinnamon
  • 1 t ground Nutmeg
  • 1/2 t ground Clove
  • 1/2 t ground Allspice

Combine all ingredients in a heavy stockpot. Bring to simmer. We would only simmer for about 5 minutes, which renders a less-dense Apple butter. For those who prefer the dark, dense version, slow-simmer for about 6 hours. May also be maker in slow-cooker by combining all ingredients; cook on high heat for 8 hours, removing lid halfway through process. Will keep covered and under refrigeration for 3 weeks.
