OKLAHOMA CITY – Authorities are investigating after Putnam City officials said a student was assaulted by four other students at Putnam City West High School.
According to the district, the incident happened on September 28.
Officials also said one employee was placed on leave.
The district did not elaborate on the nature of the assault, but sources and a parent claim a teen boy was sexually assaulted.
A parent, whose teen daughter goes to the school, didn’t want to be identified due to the nature of the case.
“She did say that it was all football players that were involved and that it was, to be kind of graphic, it was a rape with an object,” the parent said.
The district sent out an automated phone call to parents on Wednesday.
“District administrators and campus police officers are investigating an assault on a student at school by four other students on the afternoon of Friday, September 28,” said the principal in a pre-recorded message.
Putnam City said criminal charges are possible but couldn’t tell us who the employee who’s on leave, citing privacy issues.
However, sources said a football coach was placed on leave earlier in the week. It’s unclear if that matter is connected to the assault.
