CHANDLER, Okla. – Officials have identified a woman whose body was recovered from a lake in Chandler.

Around 9 a.m. on Sunday, authorities tell News 4 that they received a call from a fisherman who spotted a woman’s body in Bell Cow Lake.

When crews arrived at the scene, they recovered the body of a woman and a vehicle.

“We did locate some vehicle parts, that’s got some damage to the fence, where the vehicle possibly went through a guardrail or went through the fence and into the lake,” said Cpt. Billy Buchanan, with the Chandler Fire Department.

Officials with the Chandler Police Department tell KFOR that the woman has been identified as 81-year-old Betty Oliver.

At this point, the medical examiner will determine Oliver’s cause and manner of death.

Betty’s family sent News 4 this statement:

“The family of Betty Oliver are mourning the sudden and unexpected loss of their loved one. Betty was in good health and spirits as she was driving to watch the football game with family.

At some point she got lost and ended up in the area of Chandler lake. While driving around a curve near the lake she veered off the road and ended up in the lake unconscious and unable to rescue herself. It was a terrible accident and a very great loss. The family thank all for their thoughts and prayers and especially want to thank Officer Anthony Louie of the Seminole Sheriff’s Department who met with us to give us the bad news and showed such great compassion and mourned with us and also we wish to thank the Chandler Police Department who took all the time we needed to show us the scene of the accident and explain what probably happened. They went above and beyond their duty and brought comfort to the family.

This is a tragedy which reminds us all to hold our love ones close and to tell them I love you often as we did for Betty and she did for us.”
