OKLAHOMA CITY – A shooting on the city’s southwest side Friday evening left one person seriously injured.
Oklahoma City Police were called to S.W. 43rd and Youngs Blvd at around 5:30 p.m. for a shooting. When they arrived, a man was lying in the street. He was transported to the hospital in serious condition and undergoing surgery.
Officers on scene say two vehicles, a sedan and a pickup truck, were traveling northbound on Youngs. At some point, a person got out of the pickup and began firing at the two people inside the sedan. The driver of the sedan was not injured, but the passenger was struck by gunfire. It’s unclear if the victim was inside the vehicle when they were injured.
“The driver of the vehicle was not injured. He’s in custody right now as a witness,” said Officer Travis Vernier.
Authorities are searching for the pickup, a white crew cab with a silver tool box, which drove off from the scene. Police say surveillance video from a nearby bowling alley could help identify the vehicle and people involved.
“The best suspect information we have is possibly a male, who is in a white pickup truck, crew cab, with a silver tool box,” Vernier said. “There is surveillance video at the bowling alley, near the scene. It doesn’t show the entire incident, but it does show a portion.”
Right now, police say they don’t have a motive for the shooting.
