Sooners, Chiefs React to the Death of Mike Winchester

The  University of Oklahoma athletic department and the Kansas City Chiefs reacted to the death of former OU punter Mike Winchester, who was shot and killed at Will Rogers World Airport on Tuesday.    Three of Mike’s children followed in his footsteps as athletes for the Sooners.

Daughter Carolyn played basketball from 2005 to 2009 and also competed on the track & field team.

Son James was a deep snapper for the Sooner football team and is currently the deep snapper for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Daughter Rebecca was a rower for the Sooners.

Mike punted for the Sooners from 1984 to ’86 and was the starting punter on OU’s 1985 national championship team.
