OKLAHOMA CITY – It was a gruesome scene in northwest Oklahoma City after a white car hit a woman who was crossing the street Friday night.

People gathered around the accident scene near N.W. 25th St. and Pennsylvania Ave., trying to find out what happened.

“I got friends, you know, that shop over in this area so I didn’t want it to be someone I knew,” Harold Jefferson said.

Investigators took photos and spoke to witnesses as neighbors stood in disbelief.

“It’s tragic, you know, and life is gone,” Jefferson said. “God bless the family.”

A sad situation that has people around the area on edge.

“Be aware of your surroundings when you’re driving and slow down,” Jefferson said.

The names of those involved in the accident have not been released.

Police said the driver is cooperating with them.

Officers are looking into if speed, drugs or alcohol played any roll in the incident.
