Breakdown: How the jury decided in case of former Oklahoma City officer convicted of sex crimes

OKLAHOMA CITY – Less than 24 hours after a jury found a former Oklahoma City police officer guilty of 18 separate charges related to sex crimes, we’re learning more about the jury’s decision.

On Thursday, a jury found Daniel Holtzclaw guilty of 18 of the 36 charges he was facing.

During his trial, 13 women testified against him, claiming that he used his position as a police officer to take advantage of them and sexually abuse them.

After four days of deliberations, the jury came back with its verdict and recommended sentence.

The case began with testimony from a victim, who was identified as J.L.

J.L. said she was driving home when she was pulled over by Holtzclaw and was put in the back of his patrol car. 

At that point, she said Holtzclaw forced her to perform oral sex on him.

The jury found Holtzclaw guilty of procuring lewd exhibition and oral sodomy in her case.

Another woman, who was identified as S.H., testified that she was handcuffed to a hospital bed when the alleged assault occurred.

However, the jury found Holtzclaw not guilty of three counts of sexual battery, forcible oral sodomy, second-degree rape and indecent exposure charges related to her testimony.

A woman, identified as T.B., told investigators that Holtzclaw forced her to expose herself to him and found a convicted sex offender inside her home, but did not report it.

The jury found Holtzclaw guilty of sexual battery, not guilty of first-degree burglary, guilty of two counts procuring lewd exhibition and not guilty of stalking charges.

Another witness, identified as C.R., testified that she exposed herself to Holtzclaw when he asked her what she had on her. During the trial, the defense played a recording where C.R. said she had never been inappropriate with an officer.

The jury found Holtzclaw not guilty of procuring lewd exhibition for that case.

Another accuser, identified as F.M., testified that Holtzclaw grabbed her breast during a traffic stop.

The jury found Holtzclaw not guilty of sexual battery in that case.

Another victim, identified as R.G., said she was stopped by Holtzclaw, who ended up following her into her home, where she said he raped her and forced her to perform oral sex on him.

The jury found Holtzclaw guilty of forcible oral sodomy but not guilty of first-degree rape.

A victim, identified as R.C., said Holtzclaw pulled her over after she had been drinking and allowed her to drive to a relative’s home. She said Holtzclaw followed her and said he would take her to detox.

However, R.C. says he drove her to a bus barn and raped her in the back seat.

The jury found Holtzclaw guilty of first-degree rape for this encounter.

Another victim, identified as S.E., said Holtzclaw raped her next to an abandoned school in the backseat of his patrol car.

The jury found Holtzcalw guilty of forcible oral sodomy, guilty of first-degree rape and guilty of two counts of sexual battery.

An accuser, T.M, said she was walking and Holtzclaw forced her to expose herself to him and perform oral sex.

The jury found Holtzclaw not guilty of two counts of lewd exhibition and one count of oral sodomy.

A victim, identified as C.J., testified that Holtzclaw groped her and stuck his hands down her pants during a traffic stop.

The jury found Holtzclaw guilty of two counts of sexual battery.

An accuser, identified as K.L., testified that Holtzclaw took her to the same abandoned school and raped her.

The jury found Holtzclaw not guilty of forcible oral sodomy, two counts of lewd exhibition and first-degree rape.

A victim, identified as S.B., said the officer drove her to a secluded street known as ‘dead man’s curve’ and told her to perform oral sex on him.

The woman testified Holtzclaw told her to lean over in the back seat, where he proceeded to rape her.

The jury found Holtzclaw guilty of forcible oral sodomy and first-degree rape.

Another victim, who was a minor at the time, told the jury that she was walking to her mother’s house when Holtzclaw offered to give her a ride.

When they arrived at her mother’s house, the victim says Holtzclaw raped her.

The jury found Holtzclaw guilty of sexual battery, second-degree rape and first-degree rape.
