HOUSTON, Texas – A Texas toddler was burned to death when authorities say she was put in an oven by other children.

Authorities told KTRK that Racquel Thompson left her four children, all under 5-years-old, home alone on Monday night.

Thompson told police that she and her boyfriend left the children alone to grab takeout and stopped to get a prescription.

Court records show that two of the children, who are 3-years-old, told investigators that one of them put the baby in the oven and the other turned it on.

Records show the children told CPS workers that they made the oven “hot” and that the baby was kicking the oven door.

Officers say Thompson tried to revive 19-month-old J’Zyra Thompson, but it was too late.

So far, no charges have been filed in the case, but officials told KTRK that criminal charges are expected.
