OKLAHOMA CITY – Police are investigating after a man was murdered in front of his half-million dollar home.

On Wednesday morning, officers were called to an upscale neighborhood near N.W. 150th St. and Western Ave. on a shooting.

When emergency crews arrived to the home, they found 37-year-old Tuan Lam’s body.

As investigators started to look into the murder, they say they began to think it was not a random act of violence.

“I just heard three guys arguing and next thing you know, three gunshots,” said one neighbor.

On the surface, Tuan Lam and his wife appeared to live a quiet, normal life.

In reality, police say the pair shared a dark criminal past.

Police are investigating whether a background of drugs and illegal guns may have sparked the deadly shooting.

Neighbors didn’t know the couple well but are stunned by the violence.

“It’s kind of terrifying knowing it can happen in anybody’s neighborhood,” said the neighbor.

“At this point, we’re still trying to piece together what led up to the shooting,” said Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow, with the Oklahoma City Police Department.

In 2010, Lam was arrested for allegedly selling crack cocaine to a police informant at Walmart near Memorial and Penn.

The next year, in 2011, police raided a home on N.W. 107th and seized high-grade marijuana and cocaine, as well as guns, ammo and thousands of dollars in cash.

Lam later pleaded guilty to drug charges.

For their part, police are still trying to figure out if that criminal past in some way sparked the deadly shooting.

“We don’t want anyone to think this was a random act of violence,” said Wardlow. “We do believe this was an isolated incident.”

So far, no arrests have been made.
