Update: Teens drown while swimming in abandoned rock quarry

CADDO COUNTY, Okla. — Oklahoma Highway Patrol says that two teens who disappeared near abandoned rock quarry drowned while trying to swim across.

It happened around 8:45 p.m. Friday.

OHP says 18-year-old Denton Walker and another teen were trying to swim across the quarry and got about half way before they became exhausted and went under water.

They never surfaced.

Both teens are from Chickasha.

The quarry is near Cyril in the area of SH 8 and County Road 2680, and is on private property with restricted access, according to OHP.
