Oklahoma freshman pitcher Paige Parker did it in the pitching circle and with the bat in her hands, leading the Sooners to a 2-0 win over Texas A&M in the championship game of the NCAA regional at Marita Hynes Field in Norman on Sunday afternoon.
Parker pitched a complete game shutout against the Aggies, giving up just three hits and striking out seven, and drove home the first run of the game on an RBI single to score Erin Miller in the first inning.
Oklahoma got their other run on a single by Lauren Chamberlain in the sixth inning that scored Whitney Ellis.
The Sooners won their 14th regional championship and their sixth in a row, advancing them to the super regionals, where they will play at number 6 overall seed Alabama next weekend.
OU extended several streaks with the victory, winning their 13th straight regional game, and beating the Aggies for the 13th straight time in postseason play.
Oklahoma improved to 8-0 against the Aggies in the NCAA Tournament, including two wins each in the last three seasons to eliminate A&M.
The NCAA will announce game dates and times for the super regionals later Sunday.
It will be OU’s 9th appearance in an NCAA super regional, which is in its 11th season as part of the NCAA Tournament format.
