The University of Oklahoma football team went through their annual Red-White spring game on Saturday, April 11, and won’t have a starting quarterback officially named till the fall.
Baker Mayfield, Trevor Knight, Cody Thomas and Justice Hansen are all competing for the starting signal caller role.
Mayfield was 10/13 in the game, throwing for 176 yards a touchdown and two interceptions.
The Texas Tech transfer is believed to be the leader of the quarterback derby according to people close to the program.
Knight was 6/13 for 78 yards and was intercepted by the OU defense.
Thomas was 5/12 for 83 yards and threw an interception too.
Hansen was a perfect 5/5 and threw for 70 yards.
Several Oklahoma pass catchers made their Owen Field debuts on Saturday.
Mark Andrews and John Humphrey both hauled in 40 yard plus catches.
Jeffery Mead led all receivers with four catches for 93 yards.
The Sooner defense forced multiple turnovers in the game.
Hatari Byrd, Will Johnson, Jordan Thomas and Ahmad Thomas all intercepted passes in the contest.
The red team won 20-7.
According to OU, over 42,000 people came out to watch the Sooner play.
