Russell Westbrook couldn’t get a three pointer to fall in the last moments of regulation and the New Orleans Pelicans hung on for a 101-99 win in Oklahoma City.
The Thunder played their second straight game with out Kevin Durant while the MVP continued to nurse a sprained ankle.
Anthony Davis paced the Pelicans with a game high 38 points and gained some talk for taking home this year’s NBA most valuable player award.
Westbrook led the Thunder with another impressive all-around game racking up 29 points, five rebounds, eight assists and three steals.
Westbrook did struggle in the fourth though, going 2-9 from the field with no assists and two turnovers.
Perry Jones started the game and added 12 points, Steven Adams put up a double-double and Reggie Jackson scored 19 points off the bench.
The loss moves OKC to a game and a half out of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
The Thunder host the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday, December 23, with tip set for 8 p.m. CT.
