CASHION, Okla. – For the first time in 33 years, the Cashion High School football team has made it to the state playoffs.
The team will be playing the Thomas Terriers on Friday night in Enid and the fans are ready.
However, the high school hasn’t had a band for a few years.
“It’s a little quiet. The cheerleaders have to sing their own fight song, everybody misses the band,” said Jamie West, Cashion High School’s secretary.
Band alumni and students say they hope to change that.
Former students have been using social media to connect with band alumni.
Graduates and students have been checking out instruments so they can all come together the night of the big game.
“Hearing that so many people are wanting to come back, I’m happy to know there is still that interest to play in the band, to support the team with some level of school spirit,” said Travis West.
On Friday, the group hopes to be loud and provide a little extra inspiration to the Cashion Wildcats.
Band members plan to start practicing on Wednesday.
