OKLAHOMA CITY – A local woman is clinging on to her life after she was stabbed at a local apartment complex.
On Thursday morning, officers were called to the Castle Tower Apartments, located at 5500 block of N.W. 23rd St., in reference to a stabbing.
Now, investigators are trying to piece together what led to the violent fight between two women.
Crime scene investigators combed the parking lot of the apartment complex where the violent stabbing woke neighbors Thursday morning.
“When I was looking out the window, I saw someone laying between the cars,” Aishae Scott said.
Police say a fight between two women broke out around 10:00am.
“It’s very scary actually, I pulled up in the apartment complex, and I didn’t know what was going on,” Dejohn Holiday said.
Police say one woman, armed with a knife, stabbed the other woman.
Paramedics rushed the victim to the hospital in critical condition.
Someone in the area called 911, and police arrested 23-year-old Diamond Newton.
A homicide detective took her to police headquarters for questioning, along with several witnesses.
Police aren’t saying much about the victim or her relationship with Newton.
“We do know that one was upset with the other, and they did get into a fight out here, which lead to the stabbing,” MSgt. Gary Knight said.
Residents are still shaken after the violent crime unfolded right outside their doors.
“It`s usually quiet, this is the first thing that`s ever happened out here since I`ve been out here. We really don`t see too much of anything like this in this kind of neighborhood,” Scott said.
Police haven’t released the victim’s name yet.
Newton plead guilty to drug charges in 2012.
Now she’s behind bars charged with assault and battery with a deadly weapon.
