MOORE, Okla. – The “Take Shelter Oklahoma” organization is making a second push to get a storm shelter in every school in our state.
The group is making some changes after the first plan ran into some political road blocks.
Their original plan was to use a franchise tax to raise $500 million.
Since that did not happen, the group is now focusing on getting the issue on the November ballot.
Officials said if the issue makes the ballot and if Oklahomans vote for it, lawmakers will then determine the best way to pay for it.
“Take Shelter Oklahoma” will be announcing more plans at 2:45 p.m. at Plaza Towers Elementary in Moore.
Rev. Jesse Jackson and mothers of the tornado victims will also speak about the efforts.
