OKLAHOMA — Attorneys for death row inmates, along with the Attorney General, jointly filed a motion in federal court Friday morning requesting all Oklahoma executions be put on hold.
It states the following:
“It would be in the interests of judicial economy and comity for the Oklahoma Attorney General not to seek an execution date from the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals for any of the Plaintiffs [Glossip and his team] or any other condemned prisoners until after counsel…”
The parties are asking that executions not be followed through until:
- all investigations of executions procedures have been conducted
- the information is made public
- the DOC will “be able to comply with the express terms of the protocol.”
All executions were put on hold indefinitely after a drug mix up minutes before Richard Glossip was supposed to be put to death. But If the order is granted, there will not be any executions until 2016 at the earliest.
