POTTAWATOMIE COUNTY, Okla. — A former pastor is spending the night in jail.
Brian Burchfield is in the Pottawatomie County Jail accused of sex crimes.
Pending charges include soliciting sex with a minor and committing computer crimes.
At the time of his arrest, Burchfield was employed by Quail Springs Baptist Church, who released the following statement.
“We are disheartened to learn about the alleged inappropriate communications involving the young adult pastor at our church, Brian Burchfield. While we have no indications any inappropriate communications occurred involving Brian in his capacity as a minister at our church, we will work with those officials looking into this matter. We are praying for Brian and his family and our brothers and sisters in Shawnee and we are here to provide support and comfort.”
He was the former youth pastor at Immanuel Baptist Church in Shawnee.
