HINTON, Okla. – Authorities are investigating after a body was found on the side of the road near Hinton, Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) says the body was discovered along I-40 around noon Tuesday.

Several agencies responded to the call, including OSBI, The Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Caddo County Sheriff’s deputies, and the Medical Examiner’s office.

A trooper on scene told KFOR the body appears to be a young girl, who was nude other than a pair of socks.

He says it doesn’t appear she was thrown from the car, but evidence suggests someone was trying to cover up the body.

“Were trying to determine not only what caused the death of this individual, but who this individual is,” said Jessica Brown with OSBI. “Until we have a name for this person, there’s not much we can do to investigate any criminal act.”

Authorities say the body appears to have been there for several days, possibly weeks.

OSBI will continue to investigate.
