OKLAHOMA CITY– A 19-year-old woman killed in a drive-by shooting had just met with authorities days before her murder.
Investigators are trying to track down the shooter from Thursday’s deadly drive-by that killed Valanesha Washington.
Police are also working to find out whether the same suspect paid that home a visit less than a week ago.
The shootings happened in the 8000 block of John Robert Drive, near I-240 and Sooner Road.
Thursday afternoon, someone shot into a bedroom window, hitting 19-year-old Valanesha Washington.
Paramedics rushed her to the hospital where she died Thursday night.
“At this point, our homicide investigators are obviously following up on any leads they can get. There were other people inside the residence at the time this occurred. They’ve spoken with them as well,” OCPD Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow said.
Crime scene investigators collected evidence there Thursday.
Police are familiar with the home.
Last Saturday morning, witnesses told police a gray four-door car pulled up to the home and two people wearing black hoodies got out of the car and started shooting at the house.
Valanesha wasn’t home, but her mom was. Thankfully, she was okay.
They told police they had no idea who would shoot into their home.
Neighbors couldn’t believe it either.
“It’s a very quiet neighborhood, people mostly just coming and going from work and stuff. I know a couple people around here, it’s very friendly,” Michael Hall said.
Friends and family are mourning Valanesha’s death, many of them turning to Facebook.
Her cousin writes, “justice and peace is all I can think about right now… My heart is heavy with pain and suffering, but I know one day I will get to see you again.”
Right now, police don’t have a motive, and they aren’t sure if this is gang-related.
“In our system, Ms. Washington did not have any criminal history as far as Oklahoma city police,” Sgt. Wardlow said.
Police are looking for a white two-door car with a missing bumper.
They don’t have much to go on as far as a suspect description, other than a light skinned black male.
